My Father

Image
I'm gonna write something unusual here: my father. My late father, to be exact.  He passed on away in February 2016 at the age of 68 due to stroke. disclaimer : very long post.  My father was an asshole.  That's the statement I made for him when I did "The Work by Byron Katie" - to handle my hatred for him - after his death. That indicates how much I haven't been able to fully forgive him even after he turned into ashes.  Friends that grew up with me knows very well that I don't bring up the topic father.  In my conversation, people noticed that I will mention about my mom here and there, but will never bring out the word Father that some may think he no longer exists.  I grew up in poor condition family.  We stayed in a kampung house - cement floor, wooden wall & zinc roofing.  No air-conditioning, no ceiling fans & we will need to walk 10m outside from our house to use a common shared toilet with the other vil...

Saigon/Ho Chi Minh Food List

Image
Was at Saigon/Ho Chi Minh few weeks back. It's my first time visiting and it's a quite nice cultural experience. The traffic, the way they auto-navigates themselves into the roundabout, the grabbike experience, the humid weather, the architecture amazed me.  One thing that I wish I could have done better prior to the trip, is to make research on the food.  While Pho & Banh Mi are the only two things I ever heard of, the rest of the food is something alien to me. Mind you, most of the eatery place in HCM does not have English translation. Most of the time I was just pointing at the names & hope for the best!   Made an instant Google research after trying out a disappointing Pho at Benh Tanh Market Street Food (commercialized place btw) & Saigon beer is something totally not to my liking, it is still confusing at the English friendly guides/blogs are written by expats whom lived in HCM for at least 2-3 years! Nevertheless, it helps a lot.  Wi...

Random Fact of Hong Kong (Take 2)

Image
In 2011, I visited Hong Kong and wrote about this Random Facts About Hong Kong  This year, I went again, 6 years apart. While on the nutshell, it's sorta quite the same, but there are so many things about Hong Kong had changed so much! 1) The usage of Mandarin In the plane, I told the couple next to me to reduce usage of Mandarin while in HK, as the people there will give different treatment to Mandarin speaking people. To my surprise, China market penetration in HK has influenced the locals to be able to speak in fluent Mandarin! 2) MTR ticket kiosk While 6 years ago, you can only pays with using ONE bank note, now it has been upgraded. no more weird requirement. lol $50 & $100 notes are accepted only for fees over $30 & $80 respectively 3) Lesser rude people While my biggest complain about Hong Kong is about how rude they are, this round, it has mellow down a lot!!! I think the only group of rude people are those older aunties & uncles. The younger...

Wedding Invitation

Image
I remember attended a wedding dinner, where the couple made a huge effort in planning their wedding. It was held in nice ballroom, with thoughtful decorations, asking the guests to come one hour earlier by providing pre-dinner cocktail to beat the Malaysian timing attitude . It started with the couple themselves performing the opening gig etc etc... A friend of mine, whom sat across to me, said this sentence that goes along the line like this: "Wahh.... do until so powerr.... raise the bar so high.... siao liao... my wedding gotta raise my game to topple that!" While there is nothing wrong with the statement, however I disagree with the fact the wedding ceremony is being looked as if it is a competition - as if we are entering a one-off performance of "So You Think You Can Throw A Wedding Dinner" contest. Yes. It is an awesome wedding dinner. Yes. It makes the guests go gaga. Yes. It is filled with a lot of romantic gestures. But no, my own wedding doe...

How Leaxx7 got its name

Image
Leaxx7 Revamped! Well, basically didn't revamp the content nor the theme. Just the title and the name of the blog. Guess I want to rename it to something that easy to remember with. While writing this, I just realized that I had never explained how I got the name Leaxx7. In actual, it started with a blunder - in a bowling alley. *flashback sikit........ this is the moment where the images should turn yellowish * Yeap, i got it from that panel I wanted to write my name LEANG. So I started with tapping on the letter L, E, A ...... I got distracted and saw a button that states "STRIKE/SPARE" and my itchy hand tapped on it. Yeah, an X appear. Tried to use the DEL button but it gave no respond. The panel has no backspace button, that if you want to delete, you gotta use the arrow button to move backwards to DEL it, but I wasn't aware of that. Then, I tapped the same button again, giving me the second X Not knowing which to press next, I pressed...

2014 as it was - Part 3 (final)

Image
Well, cupid was rather busy for the year 2014. In actual, myself contributed to it. my tinder profile. now deleted liao I installed............ Tinder.  Yes, Chooi Leang was on Tinder last year! Swiping right to pretty girls only. It was kinda a sucky apps, if you ask me. And sucks at all level, if the intention is to find a long term partner there. Long story short, I only meet-up with two girls from the apps, in which the second one didn't even surpass the first date. It's like 30 mins into the conversation and we both know that we are going to not meet again, While the first one, let's call her TG, is rather interesting. On the first date, less than 2 hours into conversation, she brought up the most taboo topic for a first date : the ex-boyfriend. While I should have just stopped there, but after knowing her stories, which is quite similar with my situation when I broke up with my ex, I developed sympathies to her. Which subsequently develop...

Phuket #Yolo Bungy Jump Trip 2015

Image
Bungy jumping had been one of my bucket list. The thought of doing bungy jumping comes on and off but I keep delaying it with the reason "when the financial is more stable" as u know, bungy session is not cheap. Nearest bungy jump available is Sunway Lagoon, however it is only 25m high (about 5 storey high) which I'm super duper sure I can handle it. Plus, it is gonna costs me RM 180 for bungy and G-force and theme park entrance fee using MyKad in which I think is a bit not so worth to spend. Phuket Jungle Bungy - the only licensed bungy jumping in Phuket Google search for bungy jumping showed me the available locations around this region are New Zealand, Macau, South Korea, Pattaya and Phuket. NZ is expensive on the travel side. Macau, okay price on travel, but the Macau Tower bungy jump package is easily up to 500 USD (nearly RM2k), which is also expensive. After weighing all the factors into consideration, Phuket it is. Phuket Jungle Bungy Jump, 50m hi...
