Squat vs Sit
the most common type toilet bowl that you can find in the market is the
(i)sit type toilet bowl
(ii) squat type toilet bowl

Many prefers the sit type one as it gives more comfort.
--Sitting for 5 mins is nothing but squatting for 5 mins will start to make your leg go a little numb.
--Pregnant ladies find it hard to squat especially those that close to giving birth.
other than that, the sit types ones are (a little) less smelly compared to the squat type one. it is because your organic is immersed into water therefore liberate less smell
(unless you can 'AIM' exactly into the hole instead of splatting all over the bowl)

but somehow, i prefer the squat type rather than the sit type ones.
its because i don't shit everyday like most people do
my average is once every 3 days (doctor told me that 1 day 3 times to 3 days 1 time is considered normal)

because i don't do it daily, and due to lack of fiber in the colon, i find the whole process is not an 'enjoyable' ones
at times, i'll have to use some 'forces' to make it come out.
when squatting, i have sufficient energy to produce the force coz squatting enables to use the power of legs as well

whereas when sitting, u only use the power of the hips.
that's why i sometimes squat at the sit type toilet bowl. lol

Reason, also like you, easier to do business when squatting cause energies are all concentrated down there. Kakaka. And other than that, in public toilets, I'll go for the squat type one too as it doesn't require me to have body contact (besides feet) with the toilet bowl, more hygienic. Hehe.
Oh, and I remember reading from an email quite long ago. Try not to squat on the sit type toilet bowls as they are not designed to accommodate your whole body weight. Accidents may happen.
