Phuket #Yolo Bungy Jump Trip 2015

Bungy jumping had been one of my bucket list.

The thought of doing bungy jumping comes on and off but I keep delaying it with the reason "when the financial is more stable" as u know, bungy session is not cheap. Nearest bungy jump available is Sunway Lagoon, however it is only 25m high (about 5 storey high) which I'm super duper sure I can handle it. Plus, it is gonna costs me RM 180 for bungy and G-force and theme park entrance fee using MyKad in which I think is a bit not so worth to spend.

Phuket Jungle Bungy - the only licensed bungy jumping in Phuket
Google search for bungy jumping showed me the available locations around this region are New Zealand, Macau, South Korea, Pattaya and Phuket.
NZ is expensive on the travel side.
Macau, okay price on travel, but the Macau Tower bungy jump package is easily up to 500 USD (nearly RM2k), which is also expensive.
After weighing all the factors into consideration, Phuket it is.

Phuket Jungle Bungy Jump, 50m high, full package at 3000 Baht  (roughly RM 300).

AirAsiaGo package for 4D3N inclusive accommodation cost me about RM650+ which is a good deal.

Next up, finding people.

the #yolo gang
When comes to finding people, the first reaction is usually a repel. Not much people will just immediately agreed to it, unless that person has the eagerness to try it out in the first place.

Posting about bungy jump in several different whatsapp group from time to time allows me to identify who has the same interest. Found the #yolo people and I locked their name down.

So Phuket it is!

May 2nd 2015. That's the historical day. Bucket list is about to be unchecked.

We reached the bungy jump spot about 10am in the morning. The weather is just nice. Sunny but not too hot.
It is actually a cage platform attached to a crane which brings us up to the top of the boom.

Registered ourselves and each jumper chose their package. Almost everyone opted for Package D, additional 400 Baht for additional DVD and 2nd jump.

Who is up first? ME!

The crew members took my weight and hooked me up with all the necessary safety gears. Once they are done, I was requested to bunny-hop myself onto the cage platform.

Many thoughts flying in and out of my head during the climb to the top of the boom.
Anxiety, thrill, worries, doubts, excitement, reputation and all other thoughts until it reaches the top.
Tried to break some conversation with the instructor but that dude was being all serious and brush off all my attempts.
He instructed me to stand at the edge of the jumping deck, both hands spread high wide, and on his cue "1,2, bungy", all I need to do is to lean forward.

Here I stand, 50m from the ground, overseeing the view of Phuket.
The moment of truth is here.

1.......... 2......... BUNGY!

Like a spell to my brain, I leaned forward and the free fall begins!!!

The feeling is indescribable. Something beyond awesome. Way beyond awesome.

Sense of achievement is high, stepping through all the doubts and really doing this shit.
It is totally different from roller coaster simply because that last crucial step was done voluntarily.

I feel relieved and free and as if I fucking owned the world!

Momentarily after the first drop, it bounced back for a 2nd shorter altitude drop and by the 3rd fall, physics has taken up its role and brings me back to reality.
Not long after, I was guided back to the landing platform and that's the end of the journey.

The 2nd jump, I tried the catapult bungy.

It is actually a reverse bungy whereby I am attached to a string, they plunged me 40 deg upwards and swayed around.
In terms of fun, it is much thrilling than the bungy but bungy has higher sense of achievement.

All in all, it is an awesome experience.

Now, we can all cross-out "bungy jump" from that list.
Achievement unlocked!
