Was at Saigon/Ho Chi Minh few weeks back. It's my first time visiting and it's a quite nice cultural experience. The traffic, the way they auto-navigates themselves into the roundabout, the grabbike experience, the humid weather, the architecture amazed me.
One thing that I wish I could have done better prior to the trip, is to make research on the food.
While Pho & Banh Mi are the only two things I ever heard of, the rest of the food is something alien to me. Mind you, most of the eatery place in HCM does not have English translation. Most of the time I was just pointing at the names & hope for the best!
Made an instant Google research after trying out a disappointing Pho at Benh Tanh Market Street Food (commercialized place btw) & Saigon beer is something totally not to my liking, it is still confusing at the English friendly guides/blogs are written by expats whom lived in HCM for at least 2-3 years! Nevertheless, it helps a lot.
With that, I am making a quick summary list of Vietnam food that I tried during my stay in Saigon - in pictorial that comes with brief description & where to get it.
